FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Additions To The EAW Commercial CIS Series Of Ceiling Loudspeakers

Whitinsville, MA – June 18, 2008 - EAW Commercial has introduced three new high-output additions to its CIS Series of ceiling loudspeakers that all provide exceptional performance in large, tall structures while fitting seamlessly within ceiling installation grids.

Both the new EAW Commercial CIS961 and CIS991 feature three-way designs, while the new CIS120 utilizes a coaxial design. All three come with fully appointed steel back cans - with transducers already installed - that mount within 24-inch ceiling grids.

The CIS961 (60-degree by 60-degree dispersion) and CIS991 (90-degree by 90-degree dispersion) incorporate four 5.25-inch LF cone woofers, four 4-inch MF cone woofers and a 1-inch-exit HF compression driver mounted on a large horn that fosters superior pattern control. The application of proprietary frequency shading techniques facilitates the eight cone woofers working together to provide LF output and impact equal to that of a 12-inch LF woofer.

The physical configuration of the CIS961/991 LF/MF drivers, along with the frequency shading, is designed to maximize directivity over the widest possible frequency range, extending useful pattern control to below 500 Hz. Additionally, using the smaller drivers to cross over to the HF subsystem optimizes reproduction of critical midrange frequencies without sacrificing LF output capabilities.

The coaxial approach of the CIS120 (80-degree by 80-degree dispersion) utilizes a 12-inch coaxial driver and 1-inch-exit compression driver on a precision horn. This combination delivers coherent point-source reproduction as well as superior low-frequency performance.

All three new CIS Series loudspeakers are supplied with an integral 70.7V/100V line transformer, rated to a maximum of 128 watts. Tap settings are adjustable by means of a recessed rotary switch on the front bezel that allows selection of 128-, 64-, 32-, and 16-watt taps at 70 volts, and 128-, 64-, and 32-watt taps at 100 volts. In addition, the transformer can be bypassed, presenting an 8-ohm load to low-impedance systems.

The sealed, painted, 18-gauge steel back cans are square in shape, and are designed to mount in a 24-inch ceiling grid. Back cans include a recessed Euroblock input connector, with detachable mating plug, concealed behind a hinged metal cover plate.

A ceramic screw terminal block is also present. A powder-coated perforated steel grill is easily installed once the wattage tap has been selected. Optional installation kits include a four-piece cable kit for suspension and a four-piece square trim ring kit to dress the baffle into suspended ceiling tile surrounds.
