Digital Console for Australian “megachurch” is EAW’s first

fixed installation of the flagship UMX.96

Other EAW speaker/processor products bolster Crossway’s sound with

Gunness Focusing™ technology

Whitinsville, MA, USA – October 27, 2008 – EAW, a world leader in audio system solutions, recently provided Melbourne, Australia-based Crossway Baptist Church (www.crossway.org.au) with EAW’s flagship UMX.96 Digital Console for use as the church’s Front-of-House (FOH) mixing console. With regular cumulative Sunday attendance of upwards of 4,000 people and up to 1,100 at each service, Crossway is one of Australia’s largest churches. With such massive services, as well as contemporary music and worship styles, full live video support with six cameras and multiple screens and a heavy online/streaming presence, Crossway required a particularly powerful and versatile FOH mixing console, which is exactly what the UMX.96 delivered. Graeme Stevenson and the rest of the team at Production Audio Services (Mitcham, Victoria) handled the sale and worked very closely with Crossway personnel in the choice and design of the system.

“The UMX.96 is very intuitive and easy to operate, which is important for us, as most of our operators are volunteers,” stated Peter MacLean, Crossway Baptist Church Media Pastor. “Adding to that, it has comprehensive features and lots of outputs for all our needs. The physical layout is very ergonomically designed and user friendly, with the sloped rear section and 48 input faders always available. And of course it sounds fantastic, with very smooth and musical EQ and dynamics. The sound helps us not only create and craft great music, but also enhance it rather than simply controlling it.”

Another part of Crossway’s audio upgrade was the addition of EAW speakers and processors with EAW’s proprietary Gunness Focusing™ technology. Included are two EAW UX8800 Digital Signal Processors and eight MK8196 2-way full range installation loudspeakers for under fill and stage lip fills. MacLean added, “With this new system, we achieve much more punchy and dynamic sound with better clarity for both music and speech. Plus, we get around 3dB more perceived volume due to the Gunness Focusing technology. We have better level and balance across the whole auditorium, especially at the front now that we’re using in-ear monitoring.”

About the UMX.96 Digital Console

The UMX.96 digital mixing console re-defines performance benchmarks, offering more power, control, and integration than any digital live console on the market today. With open-ended architecture and next-generation processing, it’s nothing less than an integrated live sound environment, providing end-to-end control of the signal chain - from microphone inputs to the onboard DSP for system tuning.
Wickford, England – September 24, 2008 – EAW is pleased to announce that Vedano al Lambro, Italy-based distributor Exhibo S.p.A. has sold the first EAW NTL720 Self-Powered Line Array System to Milan rental firm Star Service, a loyal EAW patron since 1992.

Dario and Alberto Frigerio, owners of the prestigious Milan rental company, explain the reasons behind their choice, the product demo process and their history as EAW users:

“We asked to try out the system as soon as news leaked out regarding its existence – the first unofficial photos taken at a U.S. expo and the first technical descriptions swirling around pre-announcement,” Dario Frigerio stated. “Then there was the eagerly awaited announcement that production had begun and the inevitably long waiting list for all those who had requested it all throughout the world. Then, thanks to the commitment of Exhibo, EAW’s Italian distributor, we managed to test the first system that arrived in Europe. As long-time EAW users, we wanted to confirm that this new system, with its unusual dimensions and on-board technology, performed like its important predecessors, which we use on an ongoing basis for our work: the impressive KF750 High Output Array Loudspeaker, used for events held in large outdoor venues, the versatile KF650z Compact Array Loudspeaker, which were the first EAW products we bought, the KF730 Compact Line Array Module, which we consider one of the best line arrays in its class, and the small JFX260i, JFX100i and JFX88 Compact Full-Range Loudspeakers, which enable us to finish off our set-ups with the same high standards. We expected the NTL720 to be of the same pedigree, and it did not disappoint.”

“The demo was held in a large cinema theatre to recreate as precisely as possible the customary working conditions for this loudspeaker enclosure system,” Exhibo’s EAW product Manager Edoardo Ravelli adds. “The participation of EAW Application Support Group specialist Steve Badham guaranteed us a better understanding of the countless possibilities at sound engineers’ disposal for controlling the system. Although a precise project strategy chosen by the EAW team means that the sound generated by the NTL720 as it comes out of the box might seem particularly neutral without any coloring of the sound (thanks to the Gunness Focusing technology, already employed successfully on the NT series), in fact the endless control possibilities offered by EAW Pilot software enable sound engineers to create exactly the sound they want, adjusting all the system’s parameters – even the details of the individual enclosures in the cluster. This is all done by means of U-net, the EAW proprietary protocol that enables audio and data to be transported via CAT5 cable.”

Dario Frigerio continues: “Once we’d verified the quality of the rig and familiarized ourselves with the controls, we decided to buy this product and continue to use it with satisfaction for all our projects requiring very high quality audio performance and low on-site visual impact, such as fashion parades by top stylists, conventions by important companies, etc. We obviously also intend using the NTL720 for music shows, concerts, musicals and much more. The feature that struck us most with this product is the possibility it offers sound engineers of customizing and tailoring even the smallest details in their system’s sound.

We’re really proud to be the first to have the EAW NTL720. Thanks to the level of technology integrated, it’s one of the most advanced sound reinforcement systems currently on the market, and it sounds really great.”

###

About EAW

Founded in 1978 and celebrating its 30th Anniversary, Eastern Acoustic Works (EAW) is a global leader in producing high-performance professional audio equipment trusted by the most discerning professionals for every possible sound reinforcement application.

EAW is a registered trademark of LOUD Technologies Inc. in the United States and other countries.
Lightweight, Mobile Line Array Ideal for Variety of Uses

Whitinsville, MA, USA – September 30, 2008 – EAW, a world leader in audio system solutions, announces that the new JFL210 Compact Constant Curvature Line Array is now shipping and will be available in EAW warehouses worldwide in mid-October. The JFL210 compact line array features a range of EAW’s most innovative line array technologies within a mobile, lightweight package that’s an ideal solution for a multitude of small- and medium-sized applications, including portable and installed A/V as well as musician/DJ uses.

Incorporating constant curvature line array design principles, JFL210 modules form easily configured arrays with very predictable output and coherence and coverage that is both horizontally symmetric and consistent from short to long throws. And, despite the compact size, modules and arrays both deliver exceptionally high output capability and predictable pattern control.

The JFL210 can be flown or stacked in a variety of ways. The enclosure size, shape, weight and rigging are optimized for ease of transport and handling. Arrays may be easily flown or ground stacked, and up to two enclosures may be mounted on a tripod loudspeaker stand or on a pole above a pole-mount capable subwoofer.

Each two-way, full-range JFL210 module utilizes neodymium drivers that provide optimum performance and tireless durability while also further reducing weight. Two 10" (2.5" coil) woofers deliver tight, punchy low-frequency performance, while the 3" (1.4"-exit) compression driver is closely matched with a horn that provides precise directivity. These high-end components contribute to a maximum peak output of more than 130 dB SPL, allowing JFL210 arrays to comfortably fill vast spaces.

Performance can be optimized even more precisely with an EAW UX8800 digital processor (4 inputs by 8 outputs) that functions as an excellent overall system manager, processor and controller, while its Gunness Focusing™ alignment and driver processing algorithms dramatically enhance JFL210 line array performance.

Dual Neutrik® Speakon® STX Series jacks are provided on each JFL210. The STX Series’ all-metal housings are extremely rugged and provide weather protection to IP54 when mated with a complimentary STX Series cable connector. The input panel also houses recessed powering mode and HF Shading switches. Both are shrouded with a rubber boot for weather protection.

Yes, it’s extremely small and light and easy to handle, but make no mistake – the JFL210 packs an unmatched performance punch in comparison to any other loudspeaker system in its class.

Key Features:

Remarkably small footprint (314 mm / 12.4" H x 631 mm / 24.8" W x 397 mm / 15.6" D)

Light weight (23.6 kg / 52 lb.)

Neodymium drivers for superior performance and durability

Nominal beamwidth: 110° horizontal and 15° vertical

Easy construction of vertical arrays of up to six units

User switchable single- and bi-amp modes

HF Shading switch-optimized array high frequency response in single-amp powering mode

Optimization for transport by just one person

EAW UX8800 with Gunness Focusing, further enhancing performance and control

Easy pole mounting, flying and ground stacking capability

Integral, high-strength rigging system 10:1 design factor, providing confidence in all flying applications

Enclosures protection by EAW’s tough RoadCoat finish

The EAW JFL210 Compact Constant Curvature Line Array is now shipping.

###

Photo & Caption

Image 1 – EAW_JFL210_1.JPG

Image 2 –
EAW_JFL210_2.JPG

Image 3 – EAW_JFL210_3.JPG

About EAW

Founded in 1978 and celebrating its 30th Anniversary, Eastern Acoustic Works (EAW) is a global leader in producing high-performance professional audio equipment trusted by the most discerning professionals for every possible sound reinforcement application.

Williams Brice Stadium Now Has Concert-Quality Sound and Is Still Within Budget, Thanks to EAW’s Remarkable KF Series Sound System Components

Whitinsville, MA – October 14, 2008 – College football stadiums are often the last place to look for musicality in a PA system, but that’s not the case at Williams Brice Stadium in Columbia, South Carolina, home of the University of South Carolina’s powerhouse Gamecocks football team. Just before this year’s NCAA season kicked off, the stadium was outfitted with a completely new stadium sound system based on the EAW KF900 Series, featuring EAW’s remarkable proprietary Phased PointSource Technology™ (PPST), a pioneering development in large-format loudspeaker array management. Thanks to EAW innovation, the Gamecocks now have what is arguably the best-sounding 85,000-seat stadium in the NCAA. The new sound system was designed and installed by ACS Sound & Lighting, in Columbia, South Carolina.

The new KF900 Series system at Williams Brice Stadium consists of ten KF920P Mid-Frequency Loudspeakers, four KF910P Long-Throw High-Frequency Loudspeakers, four custom KF914P High-Frequency Upfill Loudspeakers and two KF913 High-Frequency Medium-Throw Downfill Loudspeakers, as well as a dozen EAW BH622 2x12 Bent Horn Subwoofer and eight BH2312 3x12 Low-Frequency Loudspeaker enclosures. Seven EAW UX8800 Digital Signal Processors manage the main PA system. In addition, four KF755P Downfill Array Loudspeakers are used to fill in under the scoreboard, and a pair of KF750P High Output Array Loudspeakers are attached to the rear of the scoreboard and facing onto the stadium’s parking lot for general announcement applications. All of the EAW KF900 Series speakers are fully weatherproofed.

“The KF900 Series is an amazing system design,” says Troy Gwin, General manager of ACS Sound & Lighting. “Additionally, the EAW line is incredibly comprehensive, and we were able to pull from the BH series components to add additional low-end power in a very cost-effective manner for the school.”

In fact, EAW did more than create a great sound system – they also manufactured it on a just-in-time basis, at EAW’s Whitinsville, Massachusetts woodworking facility, assuring that the team would have its new sound system in time for the new season. This new KF900 Series system is the successor to an EAW KF760 system that the school had rented from ACS for the last two seasons. “After we brought in that system in 2006 for a big SEC game, the school said they would never use their old existing sound system again,” Gwin recalls. A year later, the BH Series subs were added, making Williams Brice Stadium the only collegiate arena to utilize subwoofers as part of its main sound system. “The intro music for the team is the theme from 2001: A Space Odyssey, and they really wanted the sound to rumble,” says Gwin. “And it did.”

This year, the athletic staff at USC remains even more impressed with the KF900 system’s performance. Even Gwin was surprised when, during the initial tuning of the system by KF Series designer Dave Gunness, he found himself thinking that a particular piece of music he was hearing sounded pretty good. “Then I realized, I was sitting 700 feet from the speakers, in the farthest reaches of the stadium!” he says. “To have music sound that good from that far away is unheard of. You can pick out cymbal details and fret noise on a bass guitar. Incredible. No other stadium system can sound that good so far away.”

And the final signifier that University of South Carolina had made the right decision when it came to their new sound system? The Gamecocks won their opener against North Carolina State, 34-0.

About the KF900 Series

EAW’s KF900 Series of PPST Systems is engineered for massive spaces and consists of six different components: the KF910 Long-Throw HF Loudspeaker, the KF911 Downfill HF Loudspeaker, the KF913 Medium-Throw Downfill HF Loudspeaker, the KF920 Mid-Frequency Loudspeaker, the KF930 Long-Throw LF Loudspeaker and the KF940 Bent Horn Subwoofer. Designed specifically to act as a single acoustical entity, the PPST/KF900 array comprises several frequency-specific modules optimized to take advantage of the PPST process. Digital signal processing integrates the output of the many drivers in the array, providing intelligible, yet powerful, sound reinforcement over 600 feet.

###

Photo & Caption

Image 1 – EAW_SCarolinaFootball1.JPG

Wickford, England – September 22, 2008 – EAW recently honored this year’s top distributors in the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region with an awards ceremony, held during PLASA08 in London. Receiving “Distributor of the Year” honors was Barcelona-based Pro3 & Co., EAW’s distributor for Spain. Petah Tikva-based Pro Touch Ltd., EAW’s Israeli distributor, won “Most Improved Distributor.” EAW’s distributor for the Netherlands, Amsterdam-based Holland PA Services BV, won “Most Consistent Distributor.” The awards were presented by European Sales Manager Sean Martin during the company’s annual EMEA Distributor Meeting at the Chelsea Football Stadium on September 6th.

Martin credits these key distributors, as well as the entire EAW EMEA sales force, with producing record numbers in the first half of 2008. He had particularly complimentary things to say about each of this year’s three award winners.

“Pro3 [2008 Distributor of the Year] has been EAW Europe’s number one distributor in terms of sales for the past few years. They have a great team who fully support and represent the brand exactly as it should be, so it is no surprise that this effort and enthusiasm is reflected in their stellar results.

“Pro Touch [2008 Most Improved Distributor] finds homes for a remarkable amount of EAW product in Israel. Their increase in sales volume in recent years is nothing short of meteoric. No stone is left unturned by Pro Touch.

“Holland PA [2008 Most Consistent Distributor] is one of EAW’s most long-standing distributors, and regardless of market or industry ups and downs, their performance never drops. They are possibly the archetypal distributor model to which all distributors should aspire.”

Martin continued, “These awards reflect EAW’s commitment and personal relationship with the distributor/sales force in the EMEA region. No one works harder than our distributors, and they help us post the numbers to prove it. These award-winners set a high bar, and I look forward to working with our entire team of distributors to match and surpass it through the rest of 2008 and into 2009.”

Wickford, England – September 17, 2008 – EAW announces that March, April, May and June were each record sales months for EAW and EAW Commercial in the Europe, Middle East and Africa region (EMEA). This set of milestones is particularly timely, as EAW is in the midst of celebrating its landmark 30th anniversary year.

Sean Martin, Director of EAW European Operations, attributes the growth to several key factors. First of all, the EAW Europe headquarters in Wickford, England, has altered its setup and operations, improving efficiency in regards to customer service as well as the sales and shipping of new product and spares/replacement parts. The division has also made a point of keeping a greater inventory holding, resulting in order fulfillment being more direct. Additionally, EAW Europe has placed special attention on increasing its market profile and building brand loyalty by comprehensively training customers and reps.

Martin also notes the particular commitment of EAW distributors to the following new products: the UMX.96 Digital Live Console, the UX8800 Digital Signal Processor and the NTL720 Self-Powered Line Array System.

Martin stated, “As EAW marks its 30th year, it is an occasion to celebrate EAW’s successes and look to the future. These particularly fruitful four months set the tone for 2008, and we look forward to continued success in the remaining months of the 2008 fiscal year and beyond. Our new products and new personnel will continue to provide us the opportunity to set new benchmarks as we exercise our passion for sound and our dedication to our customer base.”

Wickford, England – August 14, 2008 – EAW has announced two new personnel changes to the EAW Europe Sales and Application Support Group (ASG). The appointments were announced by Sean Martin, Director of EAW European Operations.

Kevin McNally will be joining EAW Europe as the UK Sales Manager, effective August 18, 2008. He will be responsible for all sales activities in the UK territory for both live and installed applications. Kevin comes to EAW from an active career in installed sound design, including a stint at Metropolis AV and FX in Surrey. “EAW is one of the most respected names in pro audio and seems to have a solution for every application. I am really looking forward to working with such a well rounded product line and helping the brand expand its presence in the UK Market.” says McNally. Kevin will be based out of the company’s offices in Wickford, England, and can be reached at +44 (0)1268 562592 or Kevin.McNally@eaw.com.

Previous UK Sales Manager, Moray McMillin, will be taking over European ASG duties, effective August 1, 2008. McMillin has been looking after UK Sales for the past two years and now moves his considerable talents to the support of the entire EMEA region from the technical application standpoint. Moray is uniquely qualified to provide in-depth design and technical support for all things live sound, given his long and prestigious career in pro audio. In over three decades of international touring, Moray has worked with the likes of Deep Purple, Black Sabbath, Ozzy Osbourne, Siouxsie & the Banshees, Public Image Ltd. and, on the softer side, Suzanne Vega. “I am really looking forward to getting my hands dirty playing with gear full time again. Sales is fun, but I’m a gearhead at heart,” says Moray. He can be reached via his existing EAW contacts at +44 (0)7917 350517 or at Moray.McMillin@eaw.com.

Comments Martin on the moves, “We are thrilled to have Kevin on board with EAW. His wealth of experience in the UK contracting market will be a hugely beneficial addition to our sales efforts, and I have every confidence that he will serve the UK market with the passion and professionalism that people have come to expect from the EAW brand. And with Moray now taking over the European ASG function, we can all rest easy that there will not be a technical question or design challenge anywhere that will go unanswered. Moray is one of the best in the business at what he does, and our customers will surely benefit from that.”

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Monitor Engineer Karrie Keyes Selects EAW MicroWedge
For Pearl Jam Summer 2008 Concert Tour

Whitinsville, MA - June 17, 2008 -The summer 2008 concert tour by Pearl Jam that just kicked off is featuring EAW MicroWedge MW12 stage monitors deployed by Monitor Engineer Karrie Keyes to provide monitor sound on stage for several band members.

Easily one of the most influential bands of the past 20 years, Pearl Jam continues to be a top concert act, noted for its dynamic, deeply compelling live performances. The legendary band is headed by the Eddie Vedder, (lead vocals, guitar), while Mike McCready (lead guitar), Jeff Ament (bass guitar), Stone Gossard (rhythm guitar), and Matt Cameron (drummer) generate a tight, cohesive, and truly one-of-a-kind rock sound.

The 2008 Pearl Jam tour kicked off in June 2008, with the band serving as the headline act for the Bonnaroo Music Festival. They then move on to at least a dozen shows in the Eastern United States.

Keyes has served as the band's monitor engineer since its inception in the early 1990s, and also has worked with a wide range of other top musical acts. For Pearl Jam, the monitor system is straightforward, elegant in its simplicity, and devoid of gates, compressors, and elaborate effects packages. She notes that she has utilized previous MicroWedge models to a limited extent, but that's changed given the significantly upgraded performance of the new EAW MicroWedge Series.

"There are two types of wedges - those that are loud, and those that sound good. Usually a wedge is not both, but the new MicroWedge is the exception," explains Keyes. "Another big plus is that they are small. Pearl Jam and Ed's solo tour both use a very small amount of stage space, and we're always looking for ways to reduce the footprint on stage."

Keyes first deployed MicroWedge during Vedder's just-concluded solo tour, using six MW12 for opening act Liam Finn. "When I fired them up in rehearsals, I was blown away. They had power, were clear and just kept going," she says.

As a result, dual MicroWedge MW12's are being deployed with Pearl Jam for Eddie Vedder's guitar mix, as well as for Jeff Ament's mix. "I'm also very excited to try MicroWedge on the drum mix, because again, we're always looking for smaller options that deliver top quality," Keyes adds. "In my evaluations, I've come to believe this new version has the performance capabilities to more than keep up in arenas and sheds."

###

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

EAW UMX.96 Digital Console Selected By Engineer Don Dodge
For Summer U.S. Concert Tour By Foreigner

Whitinsville, MA - May 28, 2008 - The upcoming U.S. concert tour by legendary rock band Foreigner will feature veteran engineer Don "Dodger" Dodge utilizing an EAW UMX.96 digital console, revisiting the successful formula employed during the band's 2007-08 world concert tour.

"Things could not have gone better with the UMX.96 during the dozens of shows we did all over the world on the previous tour," states Dodge. "I utilized the console in the scorching heat of North America sheds in the summer and the deep freeze of Eastern Europe in winter, but flawless performance remained a constant.

"I had previously not been a fan of digital boards, but the UMX is so good that it erased that viewpoint. This console is not just competitive with others - it's a clear winner," he continues. "It has an analog mix feel, while the intuitive, comprehensive digital design cuts my workload in half - no more tape layouts of input mods, labeling outboard racks of comps and gates, or routing of verbs and effects. And, every setting can be stored and instantly recalled at the push of a button, which is also extremely helpful."

Foreigner kicks off its U.S. tour in California in late May, performing across the country for several months. In addition, Dodge also expects to utilize a UMX.96 for house mix duties for Bryan Adams and his band when they join the tour as a featured act over the summer.

The news comes on the heels of EAW announcing that production models of the UMX.96 are now shipping. First shown in prototype form in late 2005, the console has been in a consistent development and refinement process that culminated with the Foreigner tour.

Even as it underwent the strenuous refinement process, the UMX.96 retained its original design tenant of presenting mix engineers with an integrated live sound environment that includes a 3 by 12 system processor, a 16 by 8 Matrix, and the first console integration of the EAW Smaart tuning/analysis platform. The other primary design tenant of engineer comfort and familiarity was maintained as well, with the console's surface including all 48 input channel faders as well as a master section bringing together a 15-inch touch-sensitive color LCD with a rotary encoder ("Big Knob") that changes its "feel" depending on the parameter selected.

"The 48 channel layout of the UMX.96 puts every channel at my fingertips, and unlike most digital consoles that cram a ton of information on a tiny screen, the very large LCD screen is extremely easy to read and use at a glance," Dodge concludes. "The mic preamps sound fantastic, and the console as a whole has a very warm, pleasing sonic quality."

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Venue-Wide Sound System For New Nationals Ballpark
Features EAW Loudspeakers, Exclusively

Whitinsville, MA - May 22, 2008 - Nationals Ballpark, the new 41,000-seat ballpark of the Washington, D.C. Major League Baseball (MLB) franchise, offers a dynamic venue-wide sound reinforcement system featuring EAW full-range loudspeakers, exclusively.

The system, serving serves all outdoor seating regions, was designed by Wrightson, Johnson, Haddon & Williams (WJHW) of Dallas, with Principal Ron Baker serving as lead designer. Tech Inc. of Latham, Maryland handled the fast-track installation, while the Columbia, Maryland offices of AVI-SPL supplied custom system engineering services.

As they've done frequently with ballpark sound reinforcement projects, WJHW elected to deploy a distributed system. "There are numerous benefits to this approach. It places the loudspeakers much closer to each listener, so delay times are dramatically reduced in comparison to a longer throw center cluster," explains Baker. "This is advantageous both in matching sound to the numerous video presentations that are now a big contributor to the ballpark experience, as well as putting sound much more in sync with on-field performers."

Frequency response is also much broader, and there's much better overall management of sonic energy. And, portions of the system can also be turned off when not needed or different program sources can easily be directed to difference areas of the venue. The bottom line is vastly improved control over the entire production.

The system includes more than 450 EAW loudspeakers, with the majority being compact, two-way members of the MK Series that have proven popular in numerous large-scale stadium and ballpark projects due to their quality sonic properties, durability, and compact footprint. Most of these loudspeakers are outfitted with either 12-inch or 15-inch woofers, although some MK Series enclosures with 8-inch woofers also proved fortuitous in regions dictating a particularly low profile.

All three major decks comprising the main grandstand that surrounds more than 75 percent of the playing surface receive primary reinforcement from sets of three MK Series loudspeakers. Mounted to the underside of the seating decks (and the canopy on the upper deck), these supply long-, medium-, and short-throw output to carefully defined zones.

A sizable number of "dual face" loudspeakers, developed for exactly this type of application by WJHW and the EAW Engineering Department, were also deployed. These special models incorporate two MK Series loudspeakers within a single compact enclosure with a 60-degree splay between the two sets of transducers.

"The two-in-one approach removes the need to install an additional loudspeaker at numerous locations, while we still get the same benefits of coverage and output," Baker notes. "The transducers are independently driven, so each set can be optimized to best serve its respective coverage area, while additional infrastructure needs, cost and complexity are lessened."

Zones of lower level seating running along the edge of the playing field are better reached via high-output EAW MQV Series loudspeakers mounted on the fascia of the upper deck. More MQV Series loudspeakers are positioned toward the top of the largest stadium scoreboard in the U.S., delivering coherent, intelligible long-throw (well in excess of 100 feet) coverage to a large seating section in right field. Other bleacher areas beyond the outfield are served by MK Series loudspeakers mounted on poles.

All loudspeakers for the project were supplied with additional weatherproofing to provide suitable protection from direct exposure to the weather elements. Further, all were painted a custom color by EAW that perfectly matches and blends into the color scheme of the stadium's primary structural elements.

Following a comprehensive tuning and alignment process, the system was pronounced ready for the historic grand opening. "The overall quality and capability of ballpark audio systems is moving ahead nicely," Baker concludes.

                                                                                     ###

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

EAW Introduces MicroWedge Series MW12 Stage Monitor

Whitinsville, MA – June 18, 2008 - The new EAW MicroWedge Series MW12 stage monitor raises the legendary sonic performance and superior design principles of previous MicroWedge versions to a new level.

The MW12 is the first model of the EAW MicroWedge Series to be released since an agreement was reached between LOUD Technologies Inc. and MicroWedge developer Rat Sound Systems Inc. in late 2007, stipulating that EAW would serve as the exclusive manufacturer and distributor of MicroWedge products. Additional MicroWedge Series products will be introduced throughout the coming year and beyond.

The MW12 provides dramatically enhanced fidelity, power handling and reliability in comparison to earlier MicroWedge models, attained with an optimum blend of upgraded transducers and EAW’s hallmark crossover design techniques. Mechanical durability has been advanced as well, joined by enhancements in enclosure fabrication, ergonomics and interconnection, along with dramatic weight reduction.

The MW12 features a coaxial driver arrangement that pairs a 12-inch woofer with a 3-inch (diaphragm) HF compression driver on a horn delivering full yet tightly controlled 90-degree horizontal dispersion. This design path guarantees that all frequencies emanate from the exact same point, eliminating crossover region problems and time/phase irregularities, as well as optimizing coherency. The coaxial approach also contributes to a very compact, low-profile footprint that stays out of sight-and camera-lines, but attained without sacrificing fidelity and high output levels.

The MW12 is processor enhanced (rather than processor dependant) for true “plug and play” operation, and eliminating the need to also purchase additional processing is very budget friendly. In addition, it offers switchable passive or active modes.

The physical profile is visually appealing while serving another valuable function by focusing upward-firing coverage to the area most comfortable for performers – close to the wedge. This is particularly a significant advantage when stage space is in short supply. And, the curved front affords more flexibility in visually placing wedges that are optimally focused.

A large port on the front of the cabinet serves to enhance LF response in coupling with the floor, and in another upgrade, this port also now houses both the carrying handle and the passive/active mode switch. The resulting look is very clean, with the switch easily accessible (but protected from accidental changes) and the handle location fostering very balanced, single-hand carrying, enhanced by reduced enclosure weight.

Further, the port houses dual input connectors, keeping them concealed and protected while also facilitating an ideal way of making sure cables run very close to the floor where they can easily be secured in place with tape. The connector location also allows wedges to be placed as close together as desired, and again, there’s no cabling between wedges that can trip the performers. Additional cable can be stored in the port without impacting LF performance, and it is also sized to accept a leg of a tripod microphone stand, providing added stability and security.

The trapezoidal enclosure sides allow wedges to be placed very close together in “arc” configurations, while the addition of rubber feet to the bottom of the enclosure reduces abrasion. New integral rigging hardware – also mounted on the enclosure bottom – means easy flying when desired.

Finally, MicroWedge Series MW12 is very capable of withstanding the rigors of club and touring life. The Baltic birch cabinets are protected with EAW’s proprietary RoadCoat™ finish that’s highly resistant to dings and scratches, and the rugged steel grille keeps its distinctive shape, even when stood upon by performers. All transducer components are highly liquid tolerant - virtually impervious to spilled drinks as well as natural elements like rain.

                                                                                     ###

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Introduction Of EAW Commercial DX1208 Matrix Mixer

Whitinsville, MA – June 18, 2008 - The new EAW Commercial DX1208 is a 12-input, 6-output DSP matrix mixer designed for commercial and install applications.

Four inputs are mic/line capable, with selectable 48-volt phantom power provided when the user selects mic level. Four “consumer level” inputs (unbalanced RCA connectors) facilitate easy interface of consumer-type source devices, while an additional four digital inputs are available on S/PDIF with sample rate conversion between 44.1kHz and 48kHz. All 12 inputs are included in the audio matrix and can be assigned DSP functions prior to distributing signal at line level.

The DX1208 can also receive up to 6 logic inputs and send up to 3 logic outputs, combined on a single 18-pin connector and programmable via the included EAW Pilot control software. Control of the DX1208 via third party systems (i.e., AMX and Crestron) is easily attained with a serial connection (DB9) on the rear panel. Two RJ-45 connections are provided as well for linking multiple (up to eight) DX Link enabled products together in a ring network topology.

A remote control port (3-position Phoenix connector) is included on the rear panel, facilitating the linking (using RS-485) of three different types of remotes, all mounted on wall panels. Up to eight remotes per zone can be attached to the DX1208, and each is individually addressable.

EAW Pilot’s graphic user interface (GUI) presents simple, intuitive programming, and is capable of operation within the Gabriel environment.
