EAW Roadshow - Brains, Boxes and Beyond : About

The “Brains, Boxes and Beyond” Roadshow is a full-day seminar covering a variety of loudspeaker theories, applied technologies, and practical demonstrations of EAW products.

A typical day consists of six sections held across two sessions. The morning session is devoted to EAW Commercial and is hosted by Dave Raneses. The afternoon session is conducted by Bernie Broderick and covers the touring and larger permanent installation products offered by EAW.

Bernie Broderick: One of the most recognizable faces in pro audio, Bernie has been in the industry for longer than he can remember. Prior to joining EAW as Technical Training Manager, Bernie was the head of technical support for L’Acoustics, where he literally trained hundreds of audio professionals around the world on the use of line array systems.

Dave Raneses: Dave Raneses is the Product Manager for EAW Commercial and has been instrumental in the development of the line since its inception several years ago. Dave has been involved in the music industry in a variety of roles over the past 16 years including stints in the Technical Support Group at Symetrix and in disc mastering at MCA Records. This diverse audio background gives Dave a unique perspective from which to develop, and present, the EAW Commercial product line.

10:00AM – 12:30PM - EAW Commercial, presented by Dave Raneses

Point Source Theory:

Dave will give some background into spherical wave propagation and wave interaction.

The purpose of this discussion is to highlight the importance of proper layout and positioning of point source loudspeakers. It also helps to explain specific design criteria behind the demonstrated products.

EAW Commercial Technology:

Dave will take attendees on a tour of the design and technologies behind a variety of EAW Commercial products including the VR62, VR21, VRS12, CIS300, CIS400, SMS4 and the SMS5 loudspeakers.

Also includes overviews of any software or electronics associated with these products.

EAW Commercial “Operational”:

Dave will present mechanical and acoustic demonstrations of the EAW Commercial products.

Attendees will be given an opportunity to get ‘hands-on” with the product.

1:30PM – 4:00PM - EAW hosted by Bernie Broderick

Line Array Theory:

Bernie will give attendees background into cylindrical wave propagation and line array behavior. He will also cover topics ranging from the importance of horn loading, the dipole effect, Gunness Focusing as well as guidance for proper speaker placement.

EAW Technology:

Bernie will take attendees on a tour of selected EAW products that include the KF730 Line Array, NT Series and the DSA Series of loudspeakers.

Also includes overviews of any software or electronics associated with those products, such as DSA Pilot and the KF760 Design Wizard.

EAW “Operational”:

Bernie will present mechanical and acoustic demonstrations of the EAW products

Attendees will be given an opportunity to get ‘hands-on” with the product.
