Consorcio Audiovisa & KF730 Team For Mexico City Festival
In 2006, sound company Consorcio Audiovisa S.A de C.V. of Mexico City supplied and supported a large-scale rig featuring EAW KF730 compact line arrays as well as EAW SB1000 subwoofers for Festival Internacional Ollin Kan 2006. The lively music festival, held in Zocalo, the main square in Mexico City, offered performances by diverse artists from Mexico, Europe and South Africa.
Consorcio Audiovisa S.A. de C.V., owned by José Luis and Alex Morales and an EAW ELAN member company, deployed main arrays made up of KF730 modules to the left and right of the large stage, with SB1000 sub stacks beneath each array. Two more KF730 arrays were posted to the very far left and right of the stage to bolster coverage to the extremely wide audience area. In total, the system was comprised of 48 KF730 modules and 24 SB1000 subwoofers.
"There are numerous things to like about KF730's, starting with their great response," explains Alex Morales. "They provide huge SPL from such small boxes, so the size-to-power relationship is outstanding. Further, the mid/high signature is excellent. KF730's are also very easy to transport due to their compact size and low weight, and they're really easy to fly. Finally, there is the advantage of connection versatility and the impedance relationship, where we're able to drive four boxes with one power amplifier."
Morales adds that Consorcio Audiovisa was selected to provide sound for the festival because of its reputation for excellent service and equipment, and the KF730 has played a significant role in that strategy. "The KF730 has helped us enhance the events we work, and has opened doors to expand our client base. I'm also happy to report that we have already been invited to return to provide sound at this same festival in 2007."
