Chemtrol Selects EAW For Spectacular Spain Venue
Internationally hailed as a spectacular live performance environment, the new Centro Cultural Miguel Delibes in Valladolid, Spain incorporates high-end AV systems developed by Chemtrol’s División Teatro (Theatre Division) that feature premium pro audio components, including a wide range of EAW loudspeakers such as NT Series loudspeakers with Gunness Focusing and KF730 Series compact line arrays.
The multifaceted venue offers three significant performance spaces, headed by a 1,700-capacity auditorium, which is the host venue of the Symphony Orchestra of Castile and Leon in addition to featuring a wide range of other productions.
It’s joined by a beautiful 500-seat conservatory as well as a reconfigurable experimental theatre with seating for up to 600. The venue also includes the Professional Conservatory of Music, the Superior School of Dramatic Art, the Professional School of Dance, exhibition halls, a library, and rooms for congresses.
The División Teatro of Madrid-based Chemtrol (www.chemtrol.es), noted for two decades of excellence in working with top theatrical projects throughout Spain, was chosen to outfit all of these facilities with AV systems. A sampling of the division’s other projects includes the Palacio de las Artes in Valencia, Gran Teatre del Liceu de Barcelona, the Auditorium in Tenerife, the Palacio Euskalduna de Bilbao, the Teatre Nacional de Catalunya in Barcelona, the Kursaal Auditorium in San Sebastian, and several others.
Centro Cultural Miguel Delibes offers a very full slate of programming. In addition to featuring many of the top symphony orchestras from around the globe, dynamic jazz, flamenco and pop music artists also regularly grace its stages, along with touring theatrical groups and a wide rang of other theatre productions.
All of the performance spaces have excellent natural acoustics, while each sound system is outfitted with some of the latest audio technologies from top manufacturers that were carefully selected and integrated under the direction of Fernando García Carrión, head of the AV Department of Chemtrol Divisón Teatro. All audio components for this project were supplied and fully supported by distributor Pro3 & Co. S.A. of Barcelona.
Both the auditorium and the experimental theatre offer main systems headed by EAW KF730 Series line arrays, and in both cases, the arrays are made up of 18 modules split evenly into flown left-right configurations flanking the stages. In the auditorium, EAW SB730 flyable subwoofers are also incorporated into the line array structures, four per side.
“The KF730 offers a pleasant, natural sonic signature, and its output very controllable from the lowest frequencies to the highest,” explains Carrión. “These arrays have plenty of throw for this application, but with very tight, clean intelligibility.”
Meanwhile, shadowed areas of the auditorium receive bolstered coverage from four EAW UB12Se ultra-compact loudspeakers on delay, while dual EAW LA215 loudspeakers provide stage fill and four EAW SM129zi wedges can be utilized for stage monitoring. All of these loudspeakers are driven by Lab.gruppen C Series premium power amplifiers, including a combination of C68:4 higher power and C28:4 lower power four-channel models.
Also in the experimental theatre, Chemtrol Divisón Teatro chose to supplement the system with premium EAW NT Series self-powered loudspeakers featuring patented Gunness Focusing technology that produces studio sonic quality at much higher output levels. In total, four NT59 (15-inch woofer) and two NT29 (12-inch woofer) loudspeakers are available.
The conservatory is outfitted with a simpler system approach. Four EAW MK2396 high-quality two-way loudspeakers supply reinforcement, backed by dual EAW JF50s compact two-way loudspeakers. Again, all power is Lab.gruppen C Series, with just three C28:4 four-channel units required to fulfill all amplification requirements.
“The entire Chemtrol Divisón Teatro team is very pleased with the systems devised for this project, with the client equally pleased with what has been accomplished in terms of sonic quality and system operability in each application,” concludes Carrión. “We are very glad to have such a great working with relationship with Pro3, and really appreciate their unwavering support of our efforts, as well as the excellence of the top brands they represent.”
