Press Release: EAW® Announces the NEW QX300 Series

Whitinsville, MA, USA, June 3, 2013QX396_w600Eastern Acoustic Works® (EAW®) has announced that the new QX300 range of full range loudspeaker systems is available for order. EAW President Jeff Rocha made the announcement.

“EAW customers have quickly fallen in love with the unique combination of high output, tremendous pattern control and focused fidelity found in the surprisingly compact QX500 range,” Rocha said. “But they have challenged us to design the same core feature set into an even smaller package. The EAW team has once again delivered and is now thrilled to be launching the QX300 range, a two-way marvel at a price-point that’s extremely attractive.”

The QX300 range surrounds a high-output, low-resonance, 4-in coil / 1.4-in exit high frequency compression driver with four 10-in low frequency cone transducers in vertical and horizontal pairs. EAW engineers have drawn upon their extensive horn design experience to offer six distinct coverage patterns within the range. And unlike the QX500 range, the QX300 range uses different spacing for the vertical and horizontal pairs of LF devices to better match the beamwidth of the system through the crossover transition.

Press Release: EAW® Announces “i” Revision for VF Series

Whitinsville, MA, USA, May 24, 2013 – Eastern Acoustic Works® (EAW®) has announced that the new “i” revisions to the VFR range of full range loudspeaker systems are available for order. EAW President Jeff Rocha made the announcement.

“We’re excited about the “i” revisions,” Rocha said, “and we think our customers will be, too. In addition to getting a more traditional look, we’ve brought over the sleek, elegant handles from the JF Series systems and developed a standard-order installation-only white version with no handles at all. What hasn’t changed is the basic value proposition. For a wide range of customers, the VF Series represents an opportunity to reach a much higher level of performance.”

The VFR range of two-way, full-range loudspeaker systems offers five options based on 15-, 12-, 10-, 8- and 6-in low frequency transducers. Intended VFR159i_combo576for both mobile use and permanent installation, the enclosures of the standard black models include threaded mounting points as well as handles and a pole-mount cup that both accept covers for installations. Similarly, the input panels include both NL-type and barrier strip connectors.
The VF Series draws on core EAW technologies, including horn designs…

Red Certified Front-of-House engineer Martin Frey continues to send us notes from the road. He uses MW10 Microwedges as monitors, and we recently set him up with a UX3600 to deliver the focusing setting as well as the White, Grey and Blue settings developed by Microwedge co-developer Dave Rat. He recently sent us this brief update and a photo.

Martin will host a webinar on drum micing technique on November 6th. Register here…

=====

Pictured here, I’ve just loaded my UX3600 with the GreyBox settings for my MW10′s at FOH. As you can see, the window on my laptop is showing live, real time interaction with my UX3600, with both input and output signal.

Earlier today, I downloaded the newest version of EAW Pilot (released just yesterday) and installed it seamlessly and effortlessly onto my laptop. I had already downloaded the UX8800 processor settings from the EAW.com/docs software page. Installing the USB drivers for the UX3600 in Pilot was both quick and easy, as was loading the MW10 Greybox settings.

10 minutes later, my MW10′s were singing like birds!

With plenty of filters available for tweaking, I can easily…

The Sound of Philadelphia International Festival of the Arts Shines with EAW Loudspeakers

PIFA_OpeningNight.jpgInspired by Paris one century ago, the Philadelphia International Festival of the Arts (PIFA) 2011 is a month-long cultural celebration that began April 7, bringing together the worlds of dance, music, visual arts, theater, film and literature. The PIFA 2011 events take place across several Center City locations. “Styling a Second Empire: A Light and Sound Experience,” located adjacent to Philadelphia’s historic City Hall, is an outdoor visual experience that included a soundtrack delivered by an EAW® line array speaker system. Saben Shawhan, senior A/V systems consultant with Philadelphia consulting firm Metropolitan Acoustics, LLC, designed the audio system, and Starlite Productions of Moorestown, New Jersey, provided technical and logistical support. The EAW system consists of two stacks, each comprising four EAW KF740 three-way line array modules plus two EAW SB1002 dual 18-inch subwoofers. EAW FB174 flybar/ground stack frames support each cluster. Six Lab.gruppen FP 14000 amplifiers power the two speaker stacks, which are managed by two EAW UX8800 four-channel digital signal processors. A Lab.gruppen NLB 60E NomadLink bridge and network controller, along with a Crestron CP2e and TPS-6x…
