Frankfurt, Germany – March 29, 2006: Eastern Acoustic Works is introducing the latest evolution of the advanced DSA (Digitally Steerable Array) system at Musikmesse, the new DSAi.

Over the past several years, the power and versatility of EAW's DSA Series has made it the top choice among consultants and contractors seeking a solution for applications with difficult acoustics, physical mounting limitations, precise vertical coverage requirements, and tricky aesthetic requirements. Put simply, the DSA system uses sophisticated digital signal processing to vary the vertical coverage pattern from 15 degrees to 120 degrees as well as aim the coverage up or down by as much as 30 degrees. In this way, sound can be carefully directed in the vertical plane toward listeners without physically moving or adjusting the loudspeaker enclosure itself.

With the new DSAi System, this sophisticated performance is brought to a whole new level thanks to upgraded drivers for even better sonic performance, as well as fully redesigned and refined integrated electronics. As a result, the new DSAi System offers a lower noise floor for even quieter operation, while the new advanced power supply design delivers increased efficiency and improved reliability; all while reducing electromagnetic emissions.

The DSAi also benefits from EAW's patented Gunness Focusing, a true technological innovation that dramatically improves the performance of any loudspeaker system. Gunness Focusing consists of proprietary DSP algorithms, based on high-resolution measurements of a loudspeaker's performance, to focus on and correct the problems otherwise inherent to loudspeaker design. For example, DSAi boasts complex DSP algorithms designed to more efficiently focus the loudspeaker's acoustic energy, virtually eliminating out-of-pattern energy and pattern edge anomalies normally inherent to line arrays. At the same time it dramatically improves sound quality where it's needed. The resulting proprietary DSP algorithms are tailored not only to the loudspeaker's design but to its application as well.

As a result of Gunness Focusing, DSAi systems are the only steerable arrays able to deliver true "high-fidelity" sound—enabling them to deliver both voice as well as musical content equally well.

Additional updates for the DSAi Series include a Supervisory fault relay for monitoring loudspeaker operational status without the need to connect to a PC. The new DSAi meets all CE, CSA and FCC safety and emissions standards.
