Header

The AX Series is an ultimate loudspeaker toolkit for installed system applications, a versatile set of arrayable modules that can provide the "horsepower" for the high outputs required in larger venues, and with premium pattern control and the most natural sonic signature available. They’re ideal for venues such as concert halls, houses of worship, arenas, ballrooms, live theaters, gymnasiums and many others.

The AX Series includes four full-range models with horn patterns of 45 degrees by 45 degrees, 60 degrees by 45 degrees, 60 degrees by 60 degrees, and 90 degrees by 60 degrees, as well as the AX122 subwoofer that extends response down to 34 Hz.

All full-range models have dual-trapezoidal enclosures and rotatable horns to provide unlimited degrees of freedom to configure arrays - horizontally, vertically, even in spherical sections. (The subwoofer also offers a trapezoidal enclosure that fits perfectly within any AX array structure.)

AX Series loudspeakers contain some of the most groundbreaking innovations ever developed by EAW engineers, headlined by Concentric Summation Array (CSA) technology that employs several patented concepts - including precise low to mid pattern control matching as EAW’s Radial Phase Plug design.

Each cabinet includes a specially designed MF/HF coaxial transducer, composed of a high efficiency 2.5-inch voice coil, 8-inch cone midrange in a sealed chassis and a 2.5-inch voice coil, 1.4-inch exit compression driver.

The midrange and compression driver share a common neodymium magnet, significantly reducing weight. This common magnet also minimizes the distance between the voice coils of the MF and HF devices, and by extension their acoustic origins. The sealed midrange chassis is made of aluminum and acts as a heat sink for the entire assembly.

The MF/HF transducer loads into a large, common horn via a modified version of the Radial Phase Plug. A unique HF waveguide is integrated within the center of the phase plug, and it is acoustically transparent to the MF energy while being acoustically opaque to and acting as a waveguide for the HF energy. Further, the exit of the mid frequency phase plug is just over 4 inches in diameter, allowing wider coverage angles at the upper range of the mid frequencies.

To reproduce low frequencies, a pair of spaced 12-inch low frequency transducers is used. This combination of drivers and their orientation within the enclosure work together to create loudspeakers that have a symmetric pattern horizontally and vertically.

The result is a true triaxial design, since the pair of spaced 12-inch low frequency transducers creates an acoustic origin along the axis of the mid and high frequency components. The spaced 12-inch woofers also provide better pattern control than systems of similar size that utilize single direct radiating transducers.

AX Series loudspeaker also offer user-selectable single-amp and bi-amp operating modes. In single-amp mode, the passive crossover is designed to work with a digital signal processor. This reduces the crossover’s complexity, minimizes power losses, and provides more sophisticated digital processing to maximize performance.

A set of 3/8-16 threaded mounting points facilitate convenient installation. In addition, premium rigging provider Polar Focus has developed a simple bracket system expressly for the AX Series, which serves as an alignment tool and as a safety between enclosures.

The natural sound of the AX Series is unmistakable. The ability to create custom, seamless arrays is unmatched. Literally and figuratively, its patented EAW design expertise culminating in a remarkable series of installation loudspeakers.
