Eagles Stadium
Challenge:
The Lincoln Financial Field (home of the Philadelphia Eagles) needed to augment their existing audio system to better cover specific seating sections. Coffeen Fricke and Associates developed a complex specification that required a design that would not only need to address coverage, but would also counter adverse weather.
Solution:
EAW’s BTO Group immediately got to work. The group took the concept from an existing EAW line-source speaker array, of the type used commonly in houses of worship, designed to minimize impact on sightlines. The engineers modified the system, adapting it for vertical mounting. Not only did the customer solution work brilliantly, it incorporated a water-shedding form factor that safely channeled water, keeping the fans below dry.
Outcome:
Competing loudspeaker designers participated in an onsite comparative evaluation, with the stadium owner and consulting firm in attendance. The EAW PE123 was selected over the competition and now fans who are seated in the previously neglected sections can now sit back and hear every play. Touchdown.
