Beamwidth Matched Crossover Design
To produce a two-way loudspeaker with consistent dispersion through the crossover point, EAW engineers study the collapsing coverage pattern of the direct radiating LF transducer to be used. This information is used to determine the most effective crossover points for various coverage patterns. By designing constant directivity HF horns large enough to match the LF component's dispersion at that crossover frequency, dispersion through crossover remains remarkably consistent. This approach eliminates the uneven off-axis response that plagues typical two-way designs. It also produces a highly accurate vertical pattern control, substantially reduced time offset problems, and a dramatic improvement in fidelity.
