Wave Guide Plates (WGP)
Wave Guide Plates offer even, wide HF dispersion with enhanced output and pattern control for smaller systems. Our WGP design is composed of a very shallow waveguide employing an axis-symmetrical, constant directivity flare for dispersion of 100° x 100°. With this design approach, EAW is capable of loading powerful 1 inch and 2 inch exit compression drivers without producing the harsh "horn-loaded" effect prevalent in the nearfield using conventional small horns. This is particularly important for small venue sound reinforcement where listeners are in close proximity to the loudspeaker. Additionally the wide controlled dispersion is ideal for cinema surround channels that can be well off to the side of some audience members. Even though our WGPs fill broad listening areas with HF information, they occupy little physical space which is why WGP is commonly used in smaller EAW systems. While other manufacturers have used dome tweeters with shallow waveguides, EAW is the first to design such a device for high-powered 2 inch compression drivers.
