QX Series Loudspeakers Deliver Big Sound to Small Venues
Small venues can pose big sound problems. The same walls that create intimacy and atmosphere also create headaches for sound engineers wanting to fill the room evenly, with sound. Fortunately, QX series loudspeakers is ideal for any size room.
The Isis Restaurant & Music Hall – a 500-capacity venue in Asheville, North Carolina – posed just such a challenge for the sound pros at Summit Communications Systems, who turned to EAW and its QX Series of loudspeakers.
“Isis was a new club with a challenging layout,” said EAW’s Scott Pizzo. “The QX Series delivers stellar sound and was perfectly suited for the venue.”
The system was also perfectly suited for the venue owners’ budget.
“For club owners, it always comes down to getting the most bang for their buck,” said Tom Brockenbrough, Jr., a principal with Summit. “And there is not another box out there right now that provides the pattern control, dynamics, and fidelity that the QX Series does without having to get an entire array of loud speakers.”
Like many other venues, Isis plays host to a wide variety of acts, with an even wider variety of sound challenges, including the challenge of maximizing sound while minimizing feedback.
“The club presents all kinds of music, from bluegrass to electronic to big band jazz. And the QX Series is able to manage all those different levels and mixes smoothly,” said Brockenbrough. “It keeps all the extra energy off the walls and focused where it needs to go, on the audience. QX Series are impressive loudspeakers.”
A veteran musician friend of Brockenbrough’s recently played the Isis and gave the venue high marks for sound and atmosphere.
“He said it was “the best musical experience I’ve ever had in my life,’ ” said Brockenbrough. “And truthfully, we hear that a lot. It’s why we do what we do.”
